Take note! Locally owned favorite, Lady Nena's Boutique, is relocating to 802 S. Friendswood Drive, Ste. 104, Friendswood. Lady Nena's will hold a grand opening for the new store on August 1. The store, originally located at 124 S. Friendswood Drive, Friendswood, sells women's clothing and accessories.

A local Friendswood resident, Wesley Godwin, has moved his business back home. Valley Pet Care has relocated its headquarters from Weslaco in South Texas to 2011 Broadway St., Ste. 140. The company provides back-office support to veterinary hospitals, currently supporting six in Texas and one in California.

The city of Pearland broke ground on the new Fire Station 1, located at the corner of Old Alvin and McHard roads, this summer. The existing Fire Station 1, located at 2020 Old Alvin Road, has been in operation for 48 years and is now past its useful life, according to the city. During the month of April, Friendswood Development Company invited the entire Greater Houston region to explore all of its 23 communities and over 70 model homes as part of its annual Discovery Home Tour. Each year since 1991, the Friendswood Chamber of Commerce has given away a truck during the city’s Fourth of July festivities through its annual “Win a Truck” drawing and fundraiser. However, there has never been a winner present! The tradition — which is the chamber’s largest fundraiser — continues as the raffle goes into first gear with $10 tickets being sold at various area locations.

Friendswood area residents will wait no more! A Costco Wholesale is coming to the Friendswood area next to Baybrook Mall at Jasmine Street and Interstate 45 in Webster. With an expected opening date of Oct. 9, the store is expected to be 150,000 square feet and occupy 20 acres total.
