Starting the School Year Strong + New Study Spot
Welcome back to school, students of West Ranch community! Here is a much needed recap of how Friendswood ISD likes to end the summer and kick off the school year.
Our district held the third “Under the Oaks Celebration” since the first two were so successful. The aim of this celebration is to give the community an opportunity to get together and help the students get excited. If they can start their school year knowing how much support they have from their community, it will help them strive. During this event, the community spent time with each other and learned more about what was planned for the upcoming 2019-2020 year from Superintendent Thad Roher and other Friendswood ISD teachers and staff. Families were able to mingle and get to know one another better while watching the Friendswood High School Cheer team, Wranglerettes, and listen to the Friendswood High School band all while snacking on kettle corn and lemonade.
We also want to congratulate Friendswood High School’s Wind Ensemble for placing third place in the Texas Music Educators Association 5A Honor Band competition. Schools participating in this competition records three difficult pieces over their spring semester to be judged There were sixteen bands total that competed in this state competition, and Friendswood Wind Ensemble was a finalist seven times in the last nineteen years.
Students have a new place to study, too!
