Friendswood High Theatre Chosen to Perform at State Festival

The West Ranch community’s high school is full of talented students! Friendswood High School’s Theatre Troupe 1084 is currently performing at the annual State Festival in Grapevine, TX that is taking place from November 21 through 23. FHS was selected “as one of five Texas Thespian Troupes” to participate in this festival.

To be considered for this opportunity, high school theatre students submitted photos and videos to the Texas Thespians. Friendswood High School sent in a “spoken word piece that explores the issues high school students face as they approach 2020” from their original production, White Noise. The chance to perform this piece on a state level brings recognition to this troupe and high school by showing how hard each individual works to bring a production to life.

In this art, students learn to convey emotions and personalities of their characters to create an entire experience for their audience which is not an easy task. Texas Thespians have done an amazing job encouraging young theatre students to pursue this passion of theirs. This chapter of the Educational Theatre Association is “dedicated to honoring excellence in theater by encouraging and improving the skills of theatre students and their educators throughout the state of Texas.” To read more about Texas Thespians, please visit the Texas Thespians website.
